Chapter 4 Question 1

In my opinion wisdom and knowledge are two very different, but similar things. For me, knowledge is facts and things we learn in school. Everything that our teachers have taught us about English to math and science to history are all things that boost our knowledge. The more of that you know, the more knowledgeable you are. Wisdom on the other hand is life lessons. Being about to know right from wrong is all part of wisdom. In college, I think the obvious fact would be that we acquire knowledge, but in my case and I think many others also acquire wisdom. I have gone through quite a lot of difficult life challenges during college that helped shape the kind of person that I am and I thank the college experience for that. And I believe that the information age has only made us more knowledgeable, because like I stated before, you learn wisdom through life.

  1. I agree with you on everything you mentioned except on my post I said that we only acquire knowledge in college. But you’re right, life lessons can be considered as wisdom. I think that knowledge is just information and how much you know while wisdom is how one lives his or her life. I also agree that the information age has only made us more knowledgeable and not really wiser. When we think of the world overall, we haven’t learned how to live wisely. Although things have improved, wars still go on, racism, abuse, bullying still exist. Even though we know that those things are detrimental, and we know their effects on people, they still continue to happen.

  2. Hello Richard,
I really enjoyed your post because I can relate that not only college experiences give you wisdom. Although, college right now is our "life" or at least we seems to be revolved around it, that has not always been true. When we were is high school it was different things that taught you wisdom for example were, parents, sports coaches, first group of co-worker, and many others, These back then were but small wisdom experiences then what we are going through today. Today we must be responsible which put more emphasis in learning right and wrong quickly. Everything is now on us, which can be hard but at the end like you said we become the people we are today. Once again Richard great post.

  3. I really liked reading your post because you made valid points. I think college teaches us both wisdom and knowledge because we learn from our experiences during college, and we also learn from the information that our professors teach us. For example, if you had a girlfriend in college, and then you found out that she cheated on you, that's when your wisdom would kick in and you would end the relationship, and learn from it. I agree with you that you learn wisdom through life, but I feel like you could also learn it through knowledge too because when you learn something and you remember it and tell someone else that information, it's a bit of wisdom because it shows that you really understand what you were taught.

  4. I find it unfortunate to have read this late, because we basically agree on everything for this topic. I also stated that knowledge is learned through school such as subjects taught by the professors here and that wisdom is usually learned through life lessons. I also stated that you can learn them through elder people that have wisdom by going through these life lessons. I also like how easily it is to relate to your example that you give on knowledge and wisdom. I also believe that knowledge and wisdom can be learned during college whether its during school or out of school.
