Chapter 10 Question 1

This week’s material covered the types of strategies that marking uses. Every business has to have a type of strategies that makes consumers want to buy. A perfect example would have to be Apple. As we all are well aware, Apple has a reputation of being the most advanced and most sleek item out there. When you walk into an Apple store, a friendly Apple Employee quickly greets you. They are well known for the customer service skills in the store as well as on the phone. Apple is not just a music company, but it is a part of a lifestyle company that everyone wants to be a part of. They are very well at making people want to buy their products and many people are willing to pay whatever the cost. I believe that is what makes Apple a very well organized and strategic company. They know what people want or shall I say they know how to make people think they want.

  1. Hi,
I agree with you about Apple. They have done very well in advertising themselves. Their stores always have a bunch of people because of all the things customers can do on their display products. They are also really friendly when people walk in, like you said. Their advertisements make people want to buy their items and buy new versions even though their old version works fine. It is also a social thing. People want the newest iphone or android because it is popular. The people without smart phones like these are usually left out of conversations about apps and instagram or something.

  2. Hi Richard!
When we were given the question of what marketing strategies we have been bombarded with this week, Apple also came to mind. It might be because they are such a recognizable brand at this point that anything they put out, people buy regardless if they want/need it. I think you made a great point when you said Apple “knows what people want”… or better yet, “they know how to make people think” they want something from their company. It is like those new Samsung commercials with all the Apple people waiting in line for a phone that’s not different then the one they have… but they need the new one! Anyways, thanks for the post!

  3. Hello Richard,
I agree with you 100% with the marketing campaigns of Apple. The overall advertising success of Apple is phenomenal given that they are one if not the highest valued product on the market. It is not only valued in the nation but the world. Almost every country knows of its existence and are big supporters of this company. So with the mass amounts of money they are pulling in, they can put out great work on advertising. It is normally known for its sleek, simplistic, and sophisticated style which hooks their consumers into buying their products. Come on, I’m pretty sure almost everyone in this world right now owns the iphone.

  4. Hello Richard,
I agree with you in the fact that Apple has a reputation for having some of the best customer service around. The success of Apple obviously started with its advanced technology but it expanded its good reputation by making literally every aspect of the company better. What I mean by better is that they need to make sure everything is consumer friendly and easy to use in order for customers to have an easier time with the product they bought. Since Apple makes sure that they are excelling in that category, the result is a good marketing strategy.
